Mary-Louise Parker Returning To Broadway This Fall In 'Heisenberg'

Mary-Louise Parker will be returning to Broadway later this year for a production of "Heisenberg."

After "Heisenberg" was a hit during its off-Broadway run last summer, Manhattan Theatre Club has decided to transfer the production to Broadway this upcoming fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The quirky, romantic play will be written by Tony Award-winning writer Simon Stephens and star the original cast members, Parker and Denis Arndt.

"Simon Stephens is one of the most exceptional playwrights in a new generation of exciting writers who are working in the theatre today," Manhattan Theatre Club's Artistic Director Lynne Meadow said in a press release, Entertainment Weekly reported. "I am thrilled to bring to Broadway Simon's compelling and insightful 'Heisenberg,' which MTC commissioned and produced in our Stage II at City Center. Many more theatregoers will get to see the amazing Mary-Louise Parker and Denis Arndt in the funny, quirky, and moving production that director Mark Brokaw created last spring for our 150 seat theatre Off-Broadway."

The play tells the story of Georgie (Parker) who meets Alex (Arndt) in a London train station as they begin a strange and eclectic relationship after she impulsively plants a kiss on his neck, despite the fact that he's much older than her.

Parker has received a Tony Award for her performance in "Proof" and was also nominated for "Recklass" and "Prelude to a Kiss," according to Broadway.com. As of recently, she appeared on Broadway in "The Snow Geese" and in the past, she has also appeared in "Hedda Gabler" and "Bus Stop." She's best known for her on-screen role as Nancy Botwin in Showtime's hit series "Weeds" and has also appeared in "Fried Green Tomatoes," "The West Wing" and "Angels in America."

Arndt has appeared on stage in "The Tempest," "King Lear," "Othello," "Richard II" and "The Ballad of Soapy Smith." He is best known for his on screen roles in "L.A Law," "Annie McGuire," and "Basic Instinct." He has also appeared in "Grey's Anatomy," "Past Life," "Boston Legal," "24" and "Providence."

Previews for "Heisenberg" will star on Sept. 20 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, and opening night is scheduled for Oct. 13.
