Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning said that he has been told he will need hip replacement surgery "down the road," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The 39-year-old quarterback has dealt with his share of injuries this season, but he is completely focused on winning his second Super Bowl after 18 seasons in the league. Manning has reportedly told friends that Super Bowl 50 will be his last game, but he has not officially announced anything at this time.
"I've tried to stay in the moment, tried not to look back," Manning said when asked about his future, via ESPN. Many question whether the Broncos quarterback still has enough to pull out the win in Super Bowl 50, but many of those same people didn't even expect him to make it past New England in the AFC Championship game.
"My arm is what it is," Manning said. "Honestly, my having a little time off to heal my foot helped some of the other parts. ...My arm feels OK. My arm has not been the same since I was injured four years ago. ... If I could throw left-handed it would be a lot easier. ... It's just different than it was. .. It's got a few yards on it, miles on it, however you want to say it."
Reports have surfaced that the Los Angeles Rams are interested in the Super Bowl quarterback for next season, but after 18 seasons in the league, it seems as though the future Hall of Famer may be ready to hang his cleats up. The outcome of Super Bowl 50 could have a major impact on Manning's decision regarding his future, but the fact that he has stated that he will need hip replacement surgery in the future could be a sign of the end of the Peyton Manning era in the NFL.
