Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was undoubtedly disappointed with his club's performance after a 0-0 draw with Southampton, so much so that Wenger took his frustrations out on the match official, Lee Mason, after the match.
Wenger confronted the match official Lee Mason after the match reportedly saying, "It's always the same with you," according to the Daily Mirror.
Not exactly a scathing criticism but enough that Southampton manager Ronald Koeman came to the defense of the official and fired back at Wenger.
"It's always the same with you. You had 10 chances to score and couldn't take any of them so why have a go at them?" Koeman said referring to the officials.
Arsenal has not won in its last three Premier League matches, and failing to score in 270 minutes of football could mean frustrations are growing for Wenger.
"It's maximum frustrating. You rate the quality of the chances you create and the quality of the finishing. The quality of the chances we created today, considering it's a Premier League game, was high. The quality of the finishing was poor. That differential explains the 0-0," Wenger said, according to Fox Sports.
It is possible Wenger could face discipline for the abuse of an official, but it depends if Mason records the incident in his post-match report, according to the Score.
Arsenal was the only top six team not to win on Tuesday, and as a result, the Gunners slipped to fourth place in the Premier League table, tied with Tottenham Hotspur and five points back of first place Leicester City.
Wenger and his side will look to redeem themselves as they travel to Dean Court to take on Bournemouth on Sunday, Feb. 7.
