Although she's known for being quite the laid-back royal, Us Weekly reports that there is something Kate Middleton may not husband Prince William get his hands on.
While attending an event in Lodno for BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) on Monday, Nov. 18, the Duke of Cambridge joked that while he would love to purchase a Playston 4 game console (which sold 1 million units within 24 hours upon its Nov. 15 release), he's "not sure" how Middleton would feel about it as it's "very addictive". Perhaps it's for the best, as between juggling royal and family duties, it's unlikely that Prince William has much time to devote to video games.
Prince William did get his playtime in with the new console at the event, however. trying out games that won the BAFTA Young Game Designers competition, including Dan Pearce's Hamster World Domination, in which he ironically failed to rescue a princess. He also tested out Charlie Hutton-Pattemore's Vacuum Panic in which he had to clean 70 percent of a messy house in a given time slot.
"Fifty-two percent clean," he laughed after playing. "Not that clean, really."
Prince William, who is the President of BAFTA, also gave a speech on the subject of video games and development during the event at the London headquarters as part of the "Give Something Back" campaign," which "aims to help young movie, TV, and gaming professionals develop their skills," according to Us Weekly.
"Today, more than ever, young people and career-starters need nurture and support to achieve their potential and to succeed," he said in a speech at the event. "This includes the chance to learn from and work side-by-side with the best in the business. Give Something Back is a special opportunity for our supremely talented professionals to offer a small amount of their time, or money, to contribute to BAFTA's learning program."
"The U.K.'s game industry is one of the strongest in the world," he added. "Our developers are more in demand than ever before, so I hope the young people take inspiration from today's workshop and get a taste for what a career in games might be like. I know that I, for one, look forward to playing the weird and wonderful games which these young people dream up in the future."
He and Kate Middleton will make an appearance on the red carpet at the London premiere of "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom" on Dec. 5.
