Students can avail a smart offer this holiday season. Buy a new smartphone from Best Buy and get free services from Sprint. This includes unlimited calls, texting and 1Gb of data valid up to one year.
Best Buy and Sprint have collaborated together to offer a free connection for the U.S. students, valid for one year. "We are excited about this groundbreaking approach to help students connect to the latest wireless technology and to the advantages of today's mobile learning environment," said Jeff Hallock, senior vice president of marketing for Sprint, in a press release.
Students can get a new smartphone from Best Buy at the Student Activated Price, which costs around $530, reports CNet. The buyer also has to get a Sprint Unlimited My Way Plan connection for the new cell phone, which would cost him an additional $36. Once the connection is activated the customer needs to visit the Sprint student verification site and submit the required documents via fax within 14 days of the purchase to avail the free services.
Surprisingly the free services come without any contract.
Once the proofs are verified, the free services will automatically get credited to the cell phone. "This exclusive Sprint offer allows students to buy a new smartphone and get a year of free talk, text and data and several hundred dollars in savings," said Scott Anderson, vice president of mobile phones for Best Buy.
However, 1GB data may not sound that impressive for many of the web addicts. They have to spend a few bucks extra, around $10, to get unlimited data coverage for the month. Also students will get attractive discounts on the new phone in exchange for an old phone. Moreover, if the student takes up one more connection on his Sprint account or refers someone, he/she will be rewarded an additional 12 months free services, each time, from Sprint.
The consumers need to keep these guidelines in mind before availing the subscription.
(i) The buyer essentially needs to be a part time, full time or vocational student.
(ii) He/ she needs to be enrolled in an educational institute in the U.S.
(iii)Students under the age of 13 need to get a parent consent letter to avail the offer.
The buyer needs to submit either one of the following documents- (a) report card of the current standard,(b) Student ID, (c) Enrollment confirmation or tuition receipt for current school year, (d) Required state documents if home schooled.
