Ghana is all but set to secure a spot next year in Brazil. Earning a place in the 2014 World Cup would be the national team's third straight trip to football's biggest event.
"We're desperate to get back to the World Cup, but we have to make sure we do things in the right way in the second leg," Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan said, via Sky Sports. "It's football, so anything can happen."
Despite Ghana's 6-1 rout of Egypt last month, the Black Stars head to Egypt ready for a competitive bout.
"We're in a comfortable position right now, but we need to totally focus on our job and make sure we do what we have to do to reach Brazil," Gyan told the team website, via Sky Sports. "We have to do things the right way in Cairo."
One concern felt by at least one Ghana player is having to play in Egypt amidst the country's civil unrest.
"I am not afraid or scared of the Egypt team," Ghana midfielder Michael Essien said, according to Goal.com. "But I am frightened to play in Egypt because of the on-going fights over there. We have nothing to do about that because we are told to play in Egypt and we will do just that."
Egypt, meanwhile, is hoping for a better outing on their home field against the Black Stars. The odds aren't in Egypt's favor of getting past Ghana because of their current deficit. Egypt's five-game winning streak was ended last month by Ghana, all but ending any chance of Egypt qualifying for the World Cup, according to Sky Sports.
Still, Egypt wants to finish on a strong note.
"I'm satisified with our preparations. We know the mission is extremely difficult, but I have told the players our goal is to restore our pride and defend our name," Egypt manager Bob Bradley told CAFOnline.com. "We will fight till the last moment and play to win."
