Quasimodo: German Shepherd With Short Spine Syndrome Endears The World

Quasimodo, a German Shepherd in Secondhand Hounds, an animal rescue shelter in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, is truly one of a kind. Born with a very rare genetic condition that severely shortens his spine, Quasimodo is one dog whose physical condition does not get in the way of his kind heart and beautiful soul, according to MNN News.

Sara Anderson, one of the staff at the shelter, stated that apart from his rather unusual appearance, Quasimodo is actually a pretty normal dog.

"Quasimodo has nothing wrong with him. He's just a little different than normal dogs. His body is compressed because of his condition, so all of his organs are crammed in his belly," she said, reports Good Morning America.

Despite his organs being all crammed in his belly, however, Quasimodo is one of the sweetest dogs in the shelter. He was brought to the shelter after being found on the streets. Though he was quite elusive and guarded, at first, he eventually opened up and revealed himself to be a pretty sweet and playful dog.

Quasimodo is now up for adoption, and due to his story becoming pretty much viral, thousands of applications have poured in. The shelter, however, is having the sweet dog examined by veterinarians first, to see what they can do for his otherwise strange health condition, according to UPI News.

The unique dog has spent time with a foster family, and he has been great thus far. Pretty soon, though, this really special dog would need a forever home.
