Last Saturday, Louis C.K. surprised fans when he premiered an all-new drama on his website called "Horace and Pete" with no. The dark-humored dramedy stars C.K. and Steve Buscemi as Horace and Pete, two bar owners living in Brooklyn. On the day the show dropped, the comedian sent out an email to his fans that announced the arrival of the show and that it was available to purchase for $5.
The first episode of "Horace and Pete" ran for 67 minutes, according to Gothamist, and also featured Alan Alda as a racist uncle, "Saturday Night Live" star Aidy Bryant as Horace's daughter, Rebecca Hall as Horace's girlfriend and Edie Falco as his sister. The first episode also featured Nick DiPaolo, Kurt Metzger, Steven Wright and Jessica Lange.
On Thursday, C.K. sent out another email that gave more details about the mysterious new series and announced that the second episode would be available on Saturday.
"Part of the idea behind launching it on the site was to create a show in a new way and to provide it to you directly and immediately, without the usual promotion, banner ads, billboards and clips that tell you what the show feels and looks like before you get to see it yourself," the comedian said in the email, according to Rolling Stone.
As for the $5 price on the show, C.K. said that he was bringing the cost for the show down. The second episode will be $2 while others will be $3, according to the New York Times.
"Basically this is a handmade, one guy paid for it version of a thing that is usually made by a giant corporation," he added.
