With the 2014 World Cup approaching, both teams will continue to tinker and experiment with their lineups when they meet on Tuesday at Wembley Stadium. England boss Roy Hodgson's lineup indicates he plans to go after a win against Germany despite it being an exhibition game.
"There is no doubt we will be working very hard to try and redeem ourselves [after the Chile defeat]," Hodgson said, via BBC. "It is a long while since we lost a game, especially at home. We want to put that right and we want to make sure we go into the long winter break with a good result behind us and not a bad one. ...
"(Germany is) the favourites with Spain to win the World Cup, there is pressure on them in a different way. Our pressure is to prove we can be as good as them."
Daniel Sturridge, Joe Hart and Adam Lallana are expected to start, according to BBC.
Germany, however, is expected to give some of their lesser known players a chance to make an impression. Manager Joachim Low will use the Wembley friendly to further evaluate some of the team's younger, unproven players before deciding on his World Cup roster.
"I need to experiment a bit and send a few players home who are already established," said Low. "It is a deliberate acid test, not a 'B team,' and this is certainly no lack of respect to our hosts."
Projected Lineups (via SB Nation):
England: Joe Hart; Ashley Cole, Phil Jagielka, Chris Smalling, Kyle Walker; Steven Gerrard, Tom Cleverley; Adam Lallana, Wayne Rooney, Andros Townsend; Daniel Sturridge.
Germany: Roman Weidenfeller; Marcell Jansen, Per Mertesacker, Benedikt Howedes, Mats Hummels*; Toni Kroos, Lars Bender; Marco Reus, Julian Draxler, Sidney Sam; Max Kruse.
