The Indian Cricket Board, BCCI, decided to give the rest to in-form batsman Virat Kohli. On the other hand, batsman Manish Pandey and newcomer all-rounder Pawan Negi have found a place in the national squad for the T20 series, according to The Hindu.
"I will not say that I am shocked as I have been performing well in the limited-overs format. But it would be wrong to say that I am not surprised as I did not expect to get a chance in a squad which has won a T20 series 3-0. Now that I am in the team, I would like to make full use of the opportunity if I happen to get a game," Negi said after selectors announced his name in the T20 squad for the Sri Lankan series, according to Press Trust of India.
India is hosting Sri Lanka for a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series. The second and third T20s will be played at Ranchi (Feb. 12) and Visakhapatnam (Feb. 14) respectively. Both sides are looking to utilize the T20 series as a preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
