When Laura, a little piglet, was rescued from the slaughterhouse and brought to Santuario Igualdad Interespecie (Interspecies Equality Sanctuary) in Santiago, Chile, she was literally shaking in fear. However, when she laid eyes on Marina, everything changed, according to Metro.
Marina is a rescue kitten that was taken off the streets recently. When she was found, she was cold, abandoned and had a nasty case of pus in her eyes. Left on the streets, she probably would not have made it.
Laura, on the other hand, was set to be killed for her meat before she was rescued by activists. She was born to a breeder pig whose cage was so small that she could not even move. Throughout Laura's mother's life, she had been forced to give birth over and over again in order to produce more pigs to be slaughtered, reported Today News.
While both were quite traumatized by their experiences in the outside world before they came to the shelter, they eventually found some reprieve when they met each other. In fact, once Laura met Marina, the little piglet immediately gravitated towards the little kitten, and they have been inseparable ever since.
With the two babies' friendship, they have proved once more that the most beautiful friendships usually come from the unlikeliest pairings, according to the Dayton Daily News.
