Another restaurant is involved in a norovirus investigation, and it couldn't come at a worse time. A confirmed case of norovirus has been linked to Buffalo Wild Wings, CNBC reports. Kansas health officials received lab results that confirmed the gastrointestinal virus' presence. The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment is still waiting on additional test results.
More than 600 reports of illness were reported to the Kansas Health Department between Jan. 15 and 19 in Overland Park, Kansas. These reports, however, do not directly tie to Buffalo Wild Wings.
And while test results came back positive for the norovirus, there is no confirmation that the Overland Park location was the source, Reuters reports.
"We are monitoring the situation and will continue to work closely with the health department until their investigation is complete," said a Buffalo Wild Wings spokesman. The company closed the restaurant for a deep cleaning in response to the reported illnesses. It reopened the next day.
After reports of the confirmation were released, shares for Buffalo Wild Wings fell 12 percent, according to Buzzfeed.
Buffalo Wild Wings isn't the only restaurant under investigation in Overland Park. The New Theatre Restaurant is also being investigated for the norovirus outbreak in the area.
