Delmon Young, who is currently an MLB free agent, was arrested and charged with battery on the night of Super Bowl Sunday, according to Peter Burke of Miami Local 10 News.
Young, 30, spent the last two years with the Baltimore Orioles, but was released during the 2015 season. He has yet to find a suitor this offseason despite having 10 MLB seasons under his belt with the O's, Tampa Bay Rays, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies.
His most recent involvement with the law is not going to help his case in free agency.
Per the police report, which was obtained by Miami Local 10 News, Young grabbed a valet attendant by the neck and began to choke him after the former MLB outfielder was denied entrance into a club at the Brickell hotel when he was told it was closed. The incident was captured on surveillance cameras.
After that incident, Young went home to his condominium, but the hotel security staff told the authorities (after they arrived at the hotel) where he lived. When the police arrived at Young's residence, the report said he was "belligerent" and "unsteady on his feet and spoke with slurred speech." He was also "naked from his waist down."
After allegedly making a number of racist remarks to the valet attendant, Young was said to have made a similar comment to one of the police officers and was then put under arrest.

Young is a former No. 1 overall pick of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays back in 2003. He was traded to the Minnesota Twins after just 192 games with Tampa. His best years were from 2007-2010 before he began hopping around the MLB and posting average and below-average numbers.
The outfielder was previously arrested for aggravated harassment back in 2012 when the NYPD said he yelled an anti-Semetic slur when he was intoxicated. He was suspended by the MLB for seven days because of the incident and he eventually pleaded guilty to the charge.
