Johnny Depp Stars As Donald Trump In Hilarious Funny Or Die Movie

Donald Trump may still be glowing from his New Hampshire primary win, but maybe this will bring him back down to earth a bit.

Funny or Die have released their 50-minute film "The Art of the Deal: The Movie," a faux-biopic based on Trump's best-selling book starring none other than Johnny Depp as the brass mogul.

"Thought to be lost in the Cybill Shepherd blouse fire of '89, The Art of the Deal was a TV movie based on the best-selling Donald Trump autobiography of the same name. In fact, it was written, directed and starred Donald Trump himself," filmmaker Ron Howard, who serves as the feature's narrator, jokingly tells the audience. "But The Art of the Deal was almost never seen; it was preempted by Monday Night Football in 1988... Trump was furious, and vowed never to air his masterpiece. It disappeared for decades, before it turned up at a yard sale in Phoenix, Arizona."

The biopic, in all of its 1980s themed glory, revolves around Trump's obsession with buying Atlantic City's Taj Mahal from Merv Griffin. Depp, being the three-time Academy Award nominee that he is, crushes the role of Trump in hilarious fashion.

Also appearing are Patton Oswalt as Griffin and former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Michaela Watkins as Ivana Trump, and the film includes appearances by Henry Winkler, Jack McBrayer, Andy Richter, Alfred Molina and more.

Funny or Die co-founder Adam McKay told The New York Times that "The Art of the Deal: The Movie" was a "crazy, completely nuts idea that somehow we pulled off." Depp's scenes were shot over four days in December in between projects.

As for how they kept the project tightly under wraps?

"We had a few people sign nondisclosures, but mostly we just begged people not to say anything," Funny or Die editor-in-chief Owen Burke said. He also described Depp's performance as "absolutely bananas."
