Apple has had a change of heart regarding its water-damage policy. Before you jump in excitement, Apple still does not cover liquid damage iPhone and iPad in its warranty, however, there might be something that the company has in store for you. An Apple Store gift card! That's right, the tech giant has relaxed its water-damage policy for its iPhone Trade-in program.
This means, if you have an iPhone or an iPad that was unfortunately damaged by liquid contact then all you need to do is walk in to an Apple store with it. After evaluating the condition of the smartphone or the tablet, Apple will give you a gift card that can be applied towards the purchase of any Apple product including a new iPhone, iPad, iPod, MacBook, Mac desktop or any accessory.
Under the Reuse and Recycling Program, the value of an iPhone will vary based on various factors. You can get an estimate for your phone right away by answering a few questions that define the condition of an iPhone/ iPad. For instance, a 32GB Verizon iPhone 5 without water damage can fetch you a $280 gift card. But the same if damaged by water contact will drop in value to $250. That is if the phone is still in a working condition, otherwise the value of a non-working iPhone 5 (32GB) can be as low as $50, be it water damaged or not.
