Rock legend Jimi Hendrix's home in London has been refurbished and restored to look like how he used to live in it and has been opened to the public for the first time. In the apartment, Hendrix wrote songs, rehearsed for gigs and provided interviews.
The guitar hero once said to his then-girlfriend Kathy Etchingham that he considered the place his "first real home of my own," and embellished the place with cushions, curtains and plenty of ornaments, according to Reuters.
Hendrix and Etchingham first moved into the home located in 23 Brook Street in the summer of 1968. The lower half of the space they once lived in has now been renovated in the exact same way she decorated it 48 years ago.
"It was barely furnished when we took it, but I thought it could be ideal for us," she said, according to BBC News. "It really does look the way we fitted it out."
The Hendrix museum, which has been tidied up and completely dusted off, will be open to the public for the first time Wednesday, according to the Guardian.
