Even though Kristen Wiig has appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" multiple times, the real Wiig has never sat down with the host herself for an interview. Thursday night, the former "Saturday Night Live" star dressed up as Peyton Manning and did her entire interview in character.
Wiig's Manning didn't seem to know much about the Super Bowl or football in general. When asked what the final score of the game was, the actress replied: "14-6...in my mind." Wiig also did not seem to know much about her teammates, or even who was named the Super Bowl MVP.
"I was so proud for him," Wiig-Manning said. "He didn't do anything wrong the whole game. I was like, 'I'm so proud of you. Just go out tonight. Don't worry about it.'"
Later in the interview, Fallon asked Wiig to participate in a series of rapid fire questions where he asked her to pick her favorite pre-game meal, favorite color, favorite hobby, favorite band, favorite clothing store and favorite yoga pose. Finally, Fallon asked Wiig, as Manning, to say something to his fans.
"Guys, it's been a tough season," Wiig said as Manning. "I know some of you didn't think I'd make it this far. I guess that wouldn't technically make you fans still. I just want to say thanks for hanging in, and all the letters, thank you."
This was not the first time Wiig got into character for one of her interviews with Fallon. The "Zoolander 2" star impersonated NBA legend Michael Jordan in 2013, Harry Styles in 2014 and Khaleesi from "Game of Thrones" last year.
