Arizona High School Shooting Leaves 2 Girls Dead, Police Say (UPDATE)

UPDATE, 1:32 p.m.: Investigators have revealed that the two victims of the Arizona school shooting were two 15-year-old girls, reported CNN. They were both found dead outside with a single bullet wound and the murder weapon nearby.

Considering the circumstances of the shooting, many suspect the incident was a murder-suicide or double suicide, however police declined to address those suspicions, only saying, "We don't believe that there's any suspects that are out there ... that we're searching for."

Arizona Police have confirmed that they are investigating a shooting incident that left at least two people injured Friday morning at Independence High School, in Glendale, according to Reuters. Very few details are known about the incident thus far and there are conflicting reports surrounding the few bits of information that have been revealed.

Some sources have told ABC's Phoenix affiliate KNXV-TV that one person has died in the shooting, but police have yet to confirm that publicly.

On the contrary, all that has been confirmed by police is that a double shooting actually occurred, that it happened on school grounds near a patio-covered area and that the victims were students.

"I can confirm there has been a double shooting at the high school at 6600 N. 75th," said Glendale Police Officer Tracey Breeden, according to Fox's Portland affiliate KPTV-TV. "Children are safe and it's not a dangerous situation."

As police continue the investigation, police have set up a large blue tarp outside the school cafeteria and closed down 75th Avenue between Glendale Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

In the meantime, parents have been told to go to the Walmart at 75th Avenue and Glendale to wait for further details.

The Glendale Union High School District, to which Independence High School joined in 1977, has yet to release a statement about the shooting.
