Candice Bergen and Donald Trump would be serious contenders for the list of strange celebrity pairings. The actress and Republican presidential candidate once dated while attending the Wharton School of Business and it didn't last long.
"We had a blind date in college," the 70-year-old Bergen told People. "It was a very short evening."
Trump, 69, first revealed he asked out the "Murphy Brown" star in an August interview with the Boston Globe. The actual date didn't leave much of an impression on Bergen except for the real estate mogul's wardrobe and the color of his limo.
"I just remember that he was wearing a three-piece burgundy suit, and burgundy boots and a burgundy limousine," she said. "He was very coordinated.
Trump and Bergen still share a cordial relationship, but don't expect her to stump for him at campaign rallies. She is supporting Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race.
"I thought it was funnier a few months ago," she said about Trump's run for president. "Now it's worrying."
After their brief date, Bergen went on to marry French film director Louis Malle from 1980 until his death in 1995. She's now married to another New York real estate magnate, Marshall Rose. Trump is married to Melani Trump (nee Knauss) and was previously married to model Ivana Zelníčková and actress Marla Maples.
Bergen will soon make her return to television in the ABC comedy pilot "Pearl," according to Variety. In her first major TV role since "Boston Legal," the veteran actress will play Pearl, a woman who finds out she has cancer and becomes intent on controlling and orchestrating every aspect of her family's life before she dies.
