Kerry Washington stands her ground and fights back as Anita Hill in the first look at her new HBO film "Confirmation."
The movie recounts the bitter confirmation hearings of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, played by Wendell Pierce, and the accusations of sexual harassment brought against him by Hill. "Confirmation" also stars Jeffrey Wright, Jennifer Hudson and Greg Kinnear, who plays Vice President Joe Biden, then senator of Delaware and Senate Judiciary Committee chairman.
President George H. W. Bush nominated Thomas for the highest court in the land on July 1, 1991 to replace Justice Thurgood Marshall. Hill's accusation came near the end of the hearings and stemmed from her time working under Thomas at the United States Department of Education and at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The Senate confirmed Thomas by the narrow margin of 52 to 48.
Washington released the first trailer on her Twitter. The film will premiere Saturday, April 16 at 8 p.m. on HBO.
