Instagram May Include A Messaging Feature By Year End

Instagram, the video and picture sharing service is rumored to be adding more features. The Facebook owned company may come up with a messaging option by next month.

Instagram was bought by Facebook for $1 billion, last year. Within one year the site has increased its consumer base with more than 200 million users across the world and wants to extend it further by adding more features to the platform. Messaging is the latest addition to that list, according to a recent post on Gigaom. However, the company has not come up with any official statement on the matter as of now.

Instagram may allow a single chat Window or even provide its users with group messaging facility on the service. In that case the video sharing service will be following in the footsteps of its rivals, iMessage and Snapchat.

Of late Facebook was eyeing Snapchat and made an offer of $3 billion but the photo application company turned down the offer. The social networking giant might have planned to club these two services and come up with something extravagant on Instagram, reports Androidauthority. Snapchat receives more than 400 million views everyday and chose not to submerge with the Instagram brand.

This holiday season many photo freaks fond of taking pictures with their smartphones will love to try out the new feature on Instagram. It will bring in more traffic to the site.

Snapchat that is available on iOS and Android removes comments once they are viewed and Instagram may follow the same path for its messaging feature, reports Slashgear. The company is expected to roll out the feature with the next version of Instagram to be released before the end of the year.
