The Arizona State Sun Devils travel to the McKale Center in Tucson to face their in-state rival, the 12th ranked Arizona Wildcats, on Wednesday night. The Wildcats have won five straight conference games going into the matchup, and head coach Sean Miller will look for his squad to keep the momentum rolling into this anticipated rivalry game. The Sun Devils are 14-12 on the season but have struggled in conference play in the Pac 12, and head coach Bobby Hurley's group will be eyeing a signature win over Arizona.
Sophomore guard Tra Holder is the key player to watch on the Sun Devils roster, as he leads the team in both assists (3.6) and points per game (15.3). Holder struggled in a loss against UCLA this past Sunday only making two of 12 shots from the field, and finishing the night with just five points and two assists. Holder though knows how to play in the spotlight, as he scored 20 points in a win over a nationally ranked USC team last Friday.
Forward Savon Goodman is another big piece for the Sun Devils, as he leads the team in rebounds per game (6.9). The 6-foot-6, 220-pound junior isn't the tallest on the court, but uses his body to grab boards.
Arizona State will have a difficult task slowing down the Wildcats offense as they are ranked 21st in the nation in points per game, and score with multiple players. The Sun Devils will look to contain senior forward Ryan Anderson on Wednesday night, but that is much easier said than done. The Wildcats senior forward is averaging a double-double scoring 15.9 points and grabbing 10.3 rebounds per game.
The Wildcats have senior leadership on their team, and senior guard Gabe York has averaged 17.8 points in Arizona's current winning streak. York averages the most minutes on the court of anybody on the Wildcats roster, and does everything from score to rebound to assist. Arizona is considered one of the best teams in college basketball and can rely on multiple players to get a win.
