Samsung has officially confirmed the successor to its mid-range Galaxy Grand smartphone, the Grand 2. It sports impressive flagship features, a larger HD screen and more.
Samsung is adding a new member to its Galaxy lineup with the addition of Galaxy Grand 2. Just a day after the news of Grand 2 circulated on the Internet, Samsung officially confirmed it. While the pricing details and the availability of the new Grand smartphone remain a mystery, Samsung detailed astounding flagship features packed in this mid-range smartphone.
Samsung has not made major changes to the exterior design of the smartphone, but has some modification on the inside. The new Grand 2 sports a slightly larger 5.25-inch screen, compared to Galaxy Grand's 5-inch display. But the Grand successor has improved screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels.
The Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU and packs 1.5 GB of RAM with 8GB internal storage. The available microSD slot can support up to 64 GB via SD cards. Samsung has added 8-megapixel on the rear and 1.9-megapixels on the front side of the phone. The camera includes flagship features such as, Auto Focus, Sound & Shot, Best Face, Best Photo and Continuous Shot. The "Story Album" manages the pictures by timeline. In addition, the new smartphone features Group Play, to play music, share docs, and play games together. Other features include S Translator, S Travel, Samsung HUB and Samsung LINK.
"Galaxy Grand 2 is a device that offers an optimal large-screen experience on a portable, compact smartphone. This evolution of the Galaxy Grand series brings meaningful upgrades to its predecessor including an improved HD viewing experience, enhanced performance, and many other intuitive features," Samsung said in a press release.
The Galaxy Grand 2 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. It packs a 2,600 mAh battery for up to 10 hours playback and 17 hours of calling. Like its predecessors, the Grand 2 supports dual-SIM functionality. Samsung will offer the Grand 2 in three colors, White, Black and Pink. The device will be available in selective markets yet to be revealed, which is likely when the pricing is available.
