Willie Nelson Bus Crash: Thanksgiving Storm Injuries Bandmates And Suspends Tour Indefinately

Bandmates of country singer Willie Nelson were in an accident early Saturday morning when their tour bus crashed into a highway overpass pillar in East Texas due to heavy rains and sleet in the area, Reuters reported.

According to Reuters and ABC News, Drummer, Paul English sustained the most serious injuries, with a broken hip, while bandmates Billie Jean English and Thomas Ray Hawkins received only a few bumps and bruises, state trooper Jenning confirmed.

"Willie Nelson's band bus was in an accident overnight on icy I-30, 3 members of the family were hospitalized," Nelson's website announced. "The other family members on the bus are sore but everyone is expected to recover fully."

The bus was carrying the driver plus the five bandmates, but not Nelson, and crashed on Interstate 30, 80 miles northeast of Dallas around 3 a.m. on Saturday, according to state trooper Sylvia Jennings, Reuters reported.

"The driver stated that he had been driving through heavy, heavy rains and high winds and was having a difficult time driving," Jennings said. "I guess at some point he lost control, went off the road and hit one of the columns of one of the overpasses," according to Reuters.

The band's representatives posted on the site that this year's remaining shows have been suspended until further notice.
