A Chinese baby boy who came back to life before he was to be cremated at a funeral parlor has been officially pronounced dead, Monday.
The child reportedly died from fatal internal injuries..
The child's parents decided to cease medical treatment at Anhui Provincial Children's Hospital in eastern China last week, when the baby was first pronounced dead. He was then transferred to an undertaker in the capital of Anhui Province, Hefei, when staff reportedly heard him crying from the area where his body was being held. Authorities rushed him back to the hospital for immediate medical attention, but he died of internal bleeding and organ failure shortly after, according to Shanghai Daily.
The boy was in critical condition when he returned to the hospital on Friday.
The one-month-old child was born with a "congenital respiratory system malformation," according to hospital staff.
His parents agreed to end his hospital stay when doctors informed them that his delicate health might not improve. A death certificate was issued, and the child was moved to the funeral home, when staff noted that he still exhibited signs of life.
The doctor who reportedly erroneously pronounced the child dead has had his license to practice medicine revoked, according to the Daily Mail.
