Lauryn Hill left many fans disappointed after she cancelled her Grammy performance with The Weeknd last week, forcing the Canadian singer to perform solo at the award ceremony, Entertainment Tonight reported. However, on Friday, Hill made a surprise appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and performed a beautiful rendition of "In the Night" with The Weeknd, giving fans exactly what they were waiting for.
After the performance, The Weeknd took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the former Fugees singer. "Most important experience of my life. Thank you Ms. Hill," he wrote.
Hill cancelled her Grammy performance at the last minute with her rep citing that the "The Grammys announced a performance by Ms. Lauryn Hill prematurely and without approval," as HNGN previously reported.
"Any performance that could have happened was never confirmed, and should not have been advertised as such," the rep added.
Recording Academy president Neil Portnow denied the contentions made by Hill's rep, stating that Hill was present at the rehearsals before the show but was unable to make it back in time for her performance, according to The Huffington Post.
