Tonight's episode of "The Blacklist" will be the first time we see someone go after Red. As you can see from the video below, a man named Garrick (Ritchie Coster), has launched a full blown assault to capture Red. According to an interview executive producer John Eisendrath and show creator Jon Bokenkamp did with TVGuide.com, Garrick probably has a good reason to be angry with the criminal mastermind.
"He has a very personal relationship with Red, exceeding any of the Blacklisters we've seen so far. They were colleagues, they've worked together," Eisendrath told TV Guide.
"That went sideways when Red put a bullet in the guy's head. It put a crimp in things," said Bokenamp.
This episode is the first in a two-parter and we're finally going to see something we really haven't seen this season -- Red defending himself.
"That is in in part why this is a two-parter," Eisendrath told the website. "We want to explore the invasion and the incursion into the black site, but then what will happen at the back end of that story may give Red the opportunity to fight back."
It was previously reported, Alan Alda would be heading to the show as Mr. Crowley. Crowley is a man who will threaten to take Red's life if he gives certain information to Lizzie. Tonight, we get to meet Crowley.
"Alan Alda's character gives us a very small window into the much larger picture, the forces that may be lining up against Red," Bokenkamp said.
"We will learn the reasons why [Garrick attacks] now have to do with ... the larger players out in the world who Red is up against and have to do with Red's longer-term objectives," added Eisendrath.
The introduction of Crowley is intriguing because it adds to the "Who's Lizzie's Father" mystery. It will be interesting to see how Alda's character fits into that mystery or if he's involved at all.
"The Blacklist" airs on Mondays at 10/9 on NBC.
