Kanye West has already slammed the likes of Fendi and Zappos, and now the "Yeezus" rapper and fashion designer is calling for a boycott of Louis Vuitton, ABC News reports.
During an interview with New York's 93.2 NOW on Nov. 25, West vented his frustrations towards the luxury brand and its Vice President, Yves Carcelle, whom he feels is holding him back creatively.
"While I was in Paris I wanted to meet the head of Louis Vuitton and he said, 'I don't understand why we need to meet with you?'" West said to the radio station. "I said, 'Let me explain to you why you need to meet with me. Everybody in New York City right now, don't buy any Louis Vuitton until after January. Now do you want to meet with me?' Influence. They think that I don't realize my power. They want to marginalize me."
West had a similar experience with Nike after the shoe brand refused to offer him royalties for his Yeezus collection because he is not a professional athlete, according to ABC News. The rapper, however, formed a new deal with Adidas as part of the Tupac collection, as he told Hot 97's Angie Martinez.
"I'm going to be the first hip-hop designer and because of that I'm going to be bigger than Walmart," he said the radio host.
During his recent podcast with Bret Easton Ellis in which he criticized Zappos, West lamented his creative struggles and compared his life to Nolomon Northrup's character in "12 Years a Slave."
"At Louis Vuitton I did one shoe. At Nike I did two shoes but they spread them apart over four years and they had the most impact possible," West said. "I kind of saw that side of what it was, as a creative, to be free, the parallel to the main character in '12 Years a Slave'. When it was taken away from me, it felt like what it felt like as a creative to be enslaved."
