Arby's is known for having a menu full of meat, but since 2016 is a leap year, it has decided to offer a vegetarian menu for the first time ever – for only one day.
The fast food chain will offer the special vegetarian menu on Monday, Feb. 29 as its way of "taking a leap," according to Digiday. Instead of changing up the menu with all new and special vegetarian items, Arby's will instead be selling its classic sandwiches without any meat.
"At Arby's, we're proud of our meats, but we also understand that meat isn't for everyone," Arby's said in a press release. "So we've decided to give vegetarians a reason to visit Arby's on Leap Day by offering a one-day menu designed specifically for them. If it goes well, we'll likely bring back the vegetarian menu on Feb. 29 each year."
Prices will remain the same, even though the meats are not included in the items. If you're a vegetarian looking to visit Arby's on a day other than Leap Day, curly fries, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, potato cakes, chopped side salad and milkshakes are some of the chain's only year-round vegetarian options.
Here's what some of the classic menu items will entail: The loaded Italian Sandwich will just have melted cheese, banana peppers, shredded lettuce, tomato and red onions with red wine vinaigrette and garlic aioli on a toasted Italian-style roll. The Reuben Sandiwch will feature marble rube bread filled with melty Swiss cheese, tangy sauerkraut and creamy Thousand Island dressing. And the Beef 'n Cheddar Classic Sandwich will only be a toasted onion roll topped with cheddar cheese sauce and zesty Red Ranch.
"We're proud of our meats and haven't been shy about promoting them," Arby's told Mashable. "So we wanted to show vegetarians that with a little creativity, Arby's can fit into their diet as well."
