"Empire" has pulled another big name from the rap game, casting Xzibit as a new opponent for Luscious when the Fox hip-hop drama returns this spring.
Xzibit will play Leslie "Shyne" Johnson, who is described as "100 percent wolf and 100 percent gangster," according to The Hollywood Reporter. "He's managed artists, started record imprints, and even sold a few units here and there, but his bread and butter has always been - much to his frustration - drugs, guns and extortion. Feeling shut out by the other heavy hitters in the music industry, he carries a big chip on his shoulder, particularly for Lucious (Terrence Howard)."
The rapper and actor joins a laundry list of celebrities who have guest starred or recurred on the hit series, including Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys and Ludacris. Xzibit's role will reportedly be a multi-episode arc, but Fox has not confirmed how long or when he will appear on the show, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Xzibith hosted the popular car customization series "Pimp My Ride" on MTV for six seasons during the 2000s. He has also appeared in "8 Mile," "xXx: State of the Union" and "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" and was a recent guest stint on CBS's "Hawaii Five-0."
"Empire" will resume its second season on Wednesday, March 30, at 9 p.m. on Fox.
