FX has unveiled the first trailer for "Taboo," the BBC period drama from Ridley Scott, Steven Knight and Tom Hardy, who also stars.
Hardy will executive produce alongside Scott and Knight who co-created the eight-episode new series. The first trailer comes to us as production is ongoing in London. The show is expected to debut sometime in 2017.
"Taboo" follows James Keziah Delaney in 1814 after his mysterious disappearance and equally unexpected return. Following a prolonged absence in Africa, Delaney returns to London to inherit the remains of his father's shipping empire and start his life over. But his father's tarnished legacy breeds enemies and challenges that threaten Delaney's life. The series will explore his family's dark mysteries as they unravel on screen.
"Taboo" is based on an original story created by Tom Hardy and his father Chips Hardy who also serves as the show's consulting producer.
"Taboo" is directed by Kristoffer Nyholm and marks the third collaboration between Hardy and Knight following "Locke" and "Peaky Blinders."
Hardy is nominated for best supporting actor for "The Revenant" and his "Mad Max: Fury Road" is up for best picture. Scott's "The Martian" is nominated for seven Oscars, including best picture.
