In a powerful and raw short film the Robertson family, stars of A&E's "Duck Dynasty," opened up about their personal lives and struggles with fame, Hollywood Life reports. In the film, Reed Robertson revealed that his family's instant thrust into stardom was overwhelming and drove him to have "thoughts of suicide."
"A couple years ago I started to get real cynical and looking at things like that's wrong, they're looking at that wrong because I thought I had it all figured out," he said. "I guess I got really caught up in thinking that I was better than everyone else because of who my family was."
He said he started to look down on other people and "before he knew it nobody was there' he had drove everyone away because of his attitude.
"It eventually led to thoughts of suicide," he said. "I told my youth minister, I pretty much told him that I wanted to kill myself. I had finally hit rock bottom. And I wrote a letter and I was gonna do it, I really was."
Fortunately, his parents found out and helped him get himself back on track. Robertson said his father sat him down and told him that suicide is one of the most selfish acts he could have did and that statement alone is what "turned me around."
With the help of his minister and parents, Robertson got himself together and worked on his relationship with Jesus.
"I just thought about, like, 'I'm about to leave all these people that I could have a really huge impact with," he said. "I was finally free of doubts, of having an attitude of being cynical, and I remember being so relieved."
The short film, by the Christian group IAmSecond, also featured Phil Robertson who revealed that he used to be an alcoholic and had cheated on his wife, Miss Kay.
