The full cast of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" has finally been revealed weeks after the stars of the play were announced. Jamie Parker (Harry), Paul Thornley (Ron) and Noma Dumezweni (Hermione) are the three actors who will take on the adult version of J.K. Rowling's adult characters, and today the actors who will play the trio's children were announced.
On Friday, Rowling's Pottermore website posted a picture of the entire cast and crew of the upcoming London West End play, but did not reveal exactly which actors were playing what roles. The picture includes a bevy of child and teenage actors who seem to be cast as Harry's three children, Albus, James and Lily, as well as Hermione and Ron's two children, Rose and Hugo.
Rehearsals for the play officially started on Feb. 26, which got together 56 creative minds, 42 of which are actors, according to Entertainment Weekly. Among the 42 actors are seven child actors, who will all alternate between the different roles.
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" is based on a new story from "Harry Potter" author Rowling and playwright Jack Thorne. The play is being marked as "the eighth story" and will take place 19 years after the final book in the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." Earlier this month, it was announced that the script for the play would be released worldwide on July 31, both Rowling and Harry Potter's birthdays, according to Hypable.
The official synopsis for "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" reads: "It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes darkness comes from unexpected places."
Previews for the play begin in May with the play officially opening on July 30.
