Leonard "Lennie" Baker, a member of rock and roll band Sha Na Na, died Wednesday in hospice care in Weymouth, Mass. at the age of 69, his nephew David Baker said in an online obituary.

"Lennie was a people person. He had many friends and truly enjoyed time spent with all of them. His generosity was abundant. He was always willing to share all he had with friends and family," David wrote.

Baker was best known as the vocalist and saxophone player for Sha Na Na, which he was a part of for three decades between 1970 and 2000, after which he retired from the music industry, according to Variety.

The musician and the band appeared in the American musical rom-com film "Grease" as Johnny Casino & The Gamblers, the band that performs the hit song "Blue Moon" in the movie. He was also featured on the "Sha Na Na" variety show from 1977 to 1981, according to TheWrap.

Following his retirement, Baker continued to play the saxophone and sing with a local band called The Spellbinders.

Dennie Greene, co-founder of the group, also passed away in September at the age of 66, as HNGN previously reported.

Baker leaves behind three brothers- Lee Baker Sr., Leon Baker and Larry Baker- three nephews, a niece and nine great-nephews and nieces.
