With the holidays fast approaching, everyone, from retailers to social networking sites, have something special on offer. Pinterest, the social content sharing site is no exception and has come up with a celebrity studded shopping guide for its users this season.
Christmas is known to be the ideal season for shopaholics and nothing can be better if there is a guide to help one out with innovative gifts ideas. Pinterest, keeping in mind user preferences, has pepped itself up with a shopping directory for its users that includes different gift ideas shared by others on board and also suggestions from retailers and celebs.
"In the spirit of the season of Pinspiration, we're unveiling our first-ever Holiday Giving Guide," said Katie Garlinghouse, the marketing head, in a recent post on the official blog. "We asked some creative Pinners to share their favorite gift ideas to help you find the most imaginative gifts for every type of person on your list."
The shopping guide will offer more than 100 boards and will pin up suggestions going by the users' searches. The wide range of gifting options include items on Mancave dweller, roller derby girls, bearded flannel-wearing men among others. The shoppers will get to see the gifts suggested by many popular celebs like Queen Latifah, Andrew Zimmern and Guy Kawasaki.
The Pinterest users will also be getting around three secrets boards where they can hide their surprises for their beloved ones and play with the Secret Santa on the board. To add a secret board, the user needs to scroll down to the bottom of the Pinterest page and click on 'Create a secret board' or the user can click on to the option 'Add' on the extreme right of the page, select 'Create a board' and turn on the secret button, reveals a recent post on PC magazine.
But the excitement does not end here. Alongside the gift directory, Pinterest is also providing a Gift Feed section that features suggestions and offers from different retailers on gift items. The users can browse through the categories with filter options like 'Gifts for her', 'Gifts for him' and find the best suited gift from the hotlist.
Pinterest has recently started hosting advertisements featuring some of the high-end fashion brands , and a shopping guide is a step in the right direction, according to CNet.
