After starring together in Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," former Disney stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens became close friends, and recently the former "Wizards of Waverly Place" actress inspired Hudgens to make a big change.
"Selena loves working with UNICEF so much. She is just such a beautiful, stunning person on the inside with all that she does. I see how much she cares about the kids and how they've really touched her life," Hudgens recently told Yahoo! omg. "I was aware of UNICEF and their amazing deeds and I was excited to take part, as well."
Gomez is one of UNICEF's celebrity ambassadors, an activate participant in the organization's various campaigns, including 12 Days For Unicef, the emergency campaign to save lives in the Sahel region of West Central Africa, and her charity concert benefiting UNICEF that she held at the House of Blues last year.
Now Hudgens is following in her footsteps as a new ambassador, currently starring in a new PSA that for "There for the Philippines" campaign in support of those whose lives have been devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.
"It is simple. We all have moments where we need help. Right now the Philippines is at a time where they need our help more than ever," Hudgens shared with Yahoo! omg. "Typhoon Haiyan was something that really affected me. I am part Filipino and I just feel like I have a connection there and I love kids. I dropped everything I was doing and rushed over and did the PSA."
