LSU (8-3, 4-3 SEC) bounced back from a loss to Alabama on Nov. 9 with a 38-17 rout last weekend of Texas A&M. Despite the convincing win, offensive coordinator Cam Cameron warned his players that the pressure to win this week would be even greater.
"Coach Cam said, 'When you come out and you play that well, the next week you have to back it up or people are going to say it's a fluke,'" LSU running back Terrence Magee told the Associated Press. "For us, it was no accident. We prepared hard, and, you know, you want to peak at the end of the season and I feel like we're just starting to peak."
Senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger continues to impress for LSU. He's thrown for 2,926 yards and 22 touchdowns this season, including two against the Aggies. Sophomore running back Jeremy Hill has also impressed while tallying 1,040 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
Another win this season also puts coach Les Miles into the LSU history books as the first Tigers coach to win at least 10 games in four straight seasons, according to the Associated Press.
"It's one of those streaks that we've got going, one of those positive things," said junior receiver Jarvis Landry. "Unfortunately, that doesn't take away the losses, but to get to double-digit wins speaks a lot about the players, coaches and the program."
Arkansas, meanwhile, is still looking for their first conference win. The Razorbacks (3-8, 0-7) has dropped eight straight games since starting the season 3-0. Their most recent loss came in overtime on Saturday to Mississippi State, 24-17.
Friday marks Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema first "battle for the Golden Boot" and his debut in Tigers Stadium. With Arkansas out of title contention, Bielema stressed to his players to have fun and "try to make the most of a very difficult situation and be something that you can remember for a lifetime."
