The first season of "Fuller House" just premiered Friday, Feb. 26, and the show has already been picked up for a second season by Netflix. While the series was panned by critics, fans of the original series felt the "Full House" nostalgia that gave Netflix the confidence to renew the series so quickly.
The first season of "Fuller House" is 13 episodes long and follows the story of Candace Cameron Bure's now adult character DJ Tanner Fuller. The revival series follows the same storyline as the original series and sees the recently widowed DJ move back into her childhood home with her three young sons, but not alone. DJ's sister Stephanie Tanner and her best friend Kimmy Gibler both move in to help DJ raise her kids. Both Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber reprise their roles as Stephanie Tanner and Kimmy Gibler, respectively.
In addition to Cameron Bure, Sweetin and Barber joining the cast of "Fuller House," original cast members Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier and Lori Loughlin were also back in recurring roles. The only major members of the original cast that did not return for the Netflix series were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who shared the role of the youngest member of the Tanner family, Michelle. In the series, Michelle is said the be busy in New York City running her fashion empire, a nod to what the Olsen twins are doing in real life.
While Mark-Kate and Ashley did not appear in the first season of the show, series creator Jeff Franklin said he was hopeful at least one of them would come back for season two. "I am still hopeful that Mary-Kate or Ashley or both of them will come back and be a part of it, even if it's just for an hour. We miss that. Everybody does feel that hole in the family," Franklin said before the show premiered. "But it's like, all family reunions, there's always somebody that doesn't show up. But hopefully next time around, we'll have them back."
A premiere date for the next season of "Fuller House: was not announced, but a tweet from Netflix announced that season two would be "coming soon."
Season 1 of "Fuller House" is now available to stream on Netflix.
