Motorola launched the Moto G smartphone on its website earlier this week, and now the device has made its way to the world's largest online retailer, Amazon. Shoppers can pre-order the Moto G smartphone starting Dec. 4.
Motorola launched its Moto G smartphone much earlier than expected and promised to start shipping the device Dec. 2. Amazon, the online retail giant is selling both 8GB and 16GB variants of the smartphone starting Friday.
The mid-range smartphone packed with flagship features retails on Amazon for the same price as on the Motorola website. The retailer is offering free shipping starting Dec. 4, but eager buyers can place their orders immediately. The unlocked 8GB version of Moto G is listed for $179, while the 16GB version sells for $199. But if shoppers buy the device from Motorola directly, which starts shipping December 2, "taxes and shipping charges may apply."
Moto G is being launched around the world in time for Christmas shopping. This means the low priced smartphone will attract more buyers than its costlier version. The Moto G is similar in design to the Moto X and is available in a range of bright colors. In addition, the 4.5-inch display comes with a 720p (1280 x 720) High Definition resolution and 329 ppi. It is powered by the1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which has become a favorite choice for most "mini" versions of flagship smartphones including HTC One mini and Samsung Galaxy S4 mini.
The Moto X was launched only in the US but the cheaper sibling is available all over the world. In an interview with CNet Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside revealed that the company saw greater demand for the cheaper version across all markets, hence, they ramped up the production of the device.
It looks like Amazon has added Moto G to its wide range of smartphones permanently and it will be available until the stocks last.
