Nexus Phones Encountering Problems With Flash Messages Received In Bulk

While Google is still gliding through the path of success with its flagship product Nexus 5, the company is reportedly facing some issues with its Nexus devices encountering some problems with messaging. The problems results in the device rebooting or losing network temporarily.

The problems are primarily noticed with Android 4.0 or higher versions of Nexus like- Google Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Unread Flash messages over 30 create the glitch, reveals a recent post on PC World. The problem was first identified by Bogdan Alecu, a system administrator at Dutch IT services.

Flash messages are the class 0 messages mostly sent by the mobile carrier companies, which don't get saved on the devices by default. The smartphone users mostly dismiss them or save them on rare occasions. The messages that come without any audible recognition mostly remain overlooked.

According to Alecu, when such messages are received in bulk on the Nexus device it leads to rebooting and disconnection.

To restart the device a security pin needs to be keyed in if it fails to connect to the network operator services. The connection can be revived after some time with no access to internet on the device. Alongside these issues the flash message accumulation on the Nexus devices can actually lead to crashing of the messaging app. The data is restored after a few minutes when the smartphone restarts on its own.

It is still not clear whether this problem is wide spread or limited to a few unfortunates. Alecu has been pursuing the issue for more than a year and raised this concern before Google but the search engine giant has not come up with a fix yet.

"We thank him for bringing the possible issue to our attention and we are investigating," a Google representative said via email, reports CNet.

Well this is not the first time the Nexus phones have got locked, Nexus 7 users have also faced similar issues with no access to Wi-fi, a few months ago.
