The father of the shooter responsible for killing 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012 was left ‘broken’ after learning of his son’s actions.
Peter Lanza, 55-year-old tax account, still cannot comprehend was his son Adam Lanza did at the Newtown, Conn. school, Peter's sister-in-law Marsha Lanza told the Daily Mail. Marsha claims the family has yet to show signs of “healing,” especially with the stigma Adam’s actions have left on their family. Peter had not seen his son in more than two years when he heard of the shootings.
Marsha doesn’t offer any explanation for Adam’s actions, but says she still looks through messages between her and Nancy Lanza, his mother who he killed the day of the shooting, to see if there were signs of trouble she may have overlooked.
“Peter has only spoken about it to a very, very small number of people including my husband Michael, his brother, as they are very close. It's still too much even for Michael and sometimes he tells me not to ask about it,” Marsha told the Daily Mail. “Peter is a changed man. He's broken. How can you ever begin to try and deal with that? It's just impossible.”
“…You don't realize how much you use your debit card until something like this happens. It happens everywhere, the bank, restaurants, gas stations. You see them see the name, ask for your ID and then you know what they're thinking. I know what's going through their mind,” Marsha added. “It happens everywhere, the bank, restaurants, gas stations. You see them see the name and then you know what they're thinking. I know what's going through their mind.”
According to the official Sandy Hook report released last week, Adam would only speak to his mother through emails. Adam’s mother was also “not allowed” in his bedroom, where he had blacked-out the windows and placed a poster of the worst mass murders of all time ranked by death totals.
