Yes, 'Make Believe Labs', a U.S.-based tech start up has come up with a new video chat app, Hello Santa, where children will get a chance to converse live with Santa.
The app is user friendly and busy parents can do away with the tedious long lines in malls to get a photo clicked with Santa, rather they can get Santa to come home, (virtually) itself. Dorian Collier, CEO of 'Make Believe Labs' was inspired by his children to come up with such an innovative concept where they do not get a a pre-recorded messages of Santa but get a chance to directly converse with their Christmas hero.
"Jordan and I both have kids in the Santa believer age." "My son is used to using FaceTime with family, and a few months ago he asked 'Daddy, can I call Santa?, said Collier, reportsTechCrunch. " After not finding a good company offering this service at scale we decided to jump in with both feet."
To get a live Santa chat, one needs to just download the app. Then the parents can key in the required information like the feasible date and time when their children can receive the call from Santa. The parents can also leave other details like names of their kids, what they are fond of, have they been good this year and the list of items they will love to receive as gifts. Santa will call in the time allotted by the app user and greet the child with his/her name. The live conversation gets recorded simultaneously and can be shared later on social networking sites.
Each call will cost around $15. After downloading the app the user can apply the promo code 'JOLLY' to redeem a $5 discount on the first call, reveals a recent post on outsidetheboxmom.
The $15 might be proving a dampener because the two weeks old app has received low ratings from many of the reviewers and some have complained that the app crashes in the middle of a live call.
However, the app is still way better than many past apps where kids are made to listen to the same repetitive message by Santa. The app is available on iTunes store but PC and Mac users can also avail the service.
