Tina Fey can fight the feminist fight just as well as she can defend a man's right to sleep with as many women as he wants, especially if that man is Leonardo DiCaprio. Fey recently went to bat for the Oscar-winning actor on "Howard Stern" when the host accused him of being a misogynist.
The "30 Rock" creator doesn't believe his numerous relationships take away from the work he's doing to bring greater awareness to climate change and other environmental issues. She also argued that nobody is forcing these women to have sex with him.
"If this was the '70s, it would be the same thing but those girls would be like 13. So at least they're all over 18," Fey told Stern. He then pushed her on whether it's okay for DiCaprio to be "misogynistic" as long as he's support the environment and she responded, "Is it misogynistic to sleep with a bunch of women who want to sleep with you? No."
Fey and Stern did come to an agreement that both parties are using each other to an extent. The women may attain some greater power by being linked to DiCaprio and in return, he gets to sleep with beautiful women around the world.
"I don't think it misogynistic, no. I think everybody there is up for it," she argued. "I think also because he's still cute... When he's 50 and they're still 18," she said before Stern finished her thought, "Then it's a problem."
The Emmy-winning writer did acknowledge the double standard of women her age dating men in their early 20s (except maybe in the case of Jennifer Lopez). "Can you imagine if I walked in here with a 20-year-old boy?" she cracked. "I'd be like Mary Kay Letourneau."
Fey also complemented DiCaprio's acceptance speech during the Oscars. "The Revenant" actor won his first Academy Award for his role in the Alejandro González Iñárritu film and took the last few moments of his speech to address climate change.
"I always am psyched when someone is articulate about those things because, let's face it, actors are very stupid," she joked. "A lot of times when you let them talk, oof. But he's so smart, and his speech was so cogent."
Fey stars in the new film "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot," in theaters now. The second season of her Netflix series, "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," premieres on Friday, April 15.
