For all of you who love a stiff drink, but are too concerned about the high-calorie content of most alcoholic beverages, a new fizzy drink just came out that may fix all your problems. Wachusett Brewing Company is debuting a new alcoholic seltzer, Nauti Seltzer, that will be available in April.
The New England-based company is making the seltzer available in four different flavors: raspberry, lemon lime, grapefruit and cranberry. One of the main focuses of the drink is the calorie count, with each can of Nauti Seltzer only having 110 calories in it. Each can also contains 5 grams of carbohydrates 0.5 grams of protein and 0 grams of fat. The 12-ounce can also contains 5 percent alcohol.
"The clear malt base creation process turned out to be the most intense and technically challenging brewing project we have ever undertaken. We knew that if we could formulate a great-tasting, high-quality clear malt, we then could create an unlimited variety of ready-to-drink beverages," said Ned LaFortune, the co-founder and president of Wachusett. "I have long been looking to create alcoholic beverages that are appealing to people with a fun, active lifestyle. Nauti Seltzer is our first expression in being able to deliver that objective."
Nauti Seltzer joins other alcoholic seltzer brands like SpikedSeltzer, which has been in the bubbly alcohol business since 2013 and has an alcohol content of 6 percent. SpikedSeltzer founder Nick Shields created his product for people who wanted a nice buzz, but didn't want a horrible hangover the next morning. SpikedSeltzer only comes in two flavors: Cape Cod Cranberry and Indian River Grapefruit.
