Duke freshman Jabari Parker is coming off his worst game of the season after Duke's 72-66 loss to Arizona on Friday. Parker was kept to just 19 points and three rebounds, both season lows for him.
Parker admitted the loss was a growing experience because of the matchup against Arizona's tall, physical frontcourt.
"Getting the experience of playing against bigger guys. It's no excuse for them to have the advantage because it is not necessarily a game that requires height," Parker said, via ESPN. "It's just about getting back in the gym and work on it."
Despite the loss, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski saw improvement in his young team.
"We played a game worthy of winning," Krzyzewski said after the loss to Arizona. "I thought we played a lot better than we did against Kansas. I think my team has improved. There is no shame in losing to Kansas or Arizona. Part of us getting better is getting older together."
All eyes will be on Parker, who leads Duke in both points (23.0) and rebounds (8.0) per game. As he continues to make his case to be the first pick of the 2014 NBA draft, he's gotten help from sophomore Rodney Hood who's adding 20 points per game.
Michigan, meanwhile, has gotten production from sophomore guard Nik Stauskas' 20.3 points per game. Sophomore forward Mitch McGary leads the team with 7.8 rebounds per game. The Wolverines also appear to have an emerging star in freshman Zak Irvin.
"He's one of those rare shooters," Michigan coach John Beilein told the team website. "Zak can shoot and defend. And really those are his two things. Our defense picked up a lot."
