It's official, Jillian Michaels is engaged! The health and fitness guru proposed to her longtime partner Heidi Rhoades with a sweet proposal during the season finale of her E! reality TV series "Just Jillian" Tuesday night.
The couple's relationship was documented during season one of the former "Biggest Loser" star's show. Michaels and Rhoades began dating in 2009 and share a home, 5-year-old daughter Lukensia and 3-year-old Phoenix, as well as multiple pets. But even though the couple was in a domestic partnership, Rhoades still wanted to take their relationship to the next level, even though Michaels had a fear of marriage. After getting advice from friends and family, Michaels finally decided to propose.
Michaels set up a touching slideshow full of photos of the couple on vacation, a shot of Rhoades' positive pregnancy test when she found out that she was pregnant with their son Phoenix, then their first family photo and shots of the couple's children and pets. She wrote out a sweet message to Rhoades that popped up on screen in between photos.
"In a world where it's tough to connect, one woman found that someone special and came to discover that where there's love, there's hope, happiness, adventure, and endless possibilities," the message read. "We were a great couple, but better as a family and eventually a zoo. I have been thinking a lot and while so much of life is unknown, there is one thing I know for sure. I want to be with you for better, for worse, in sickness and in health for the rest of my days. So I have only one question for you."
Photos of the couple's friends and family members holding up signs that read "Will you marry" flashed on screen, then a shot of Jillian appeared and the fitness guru held a sign that read "me" while down on one knee.
Rhoades turned to Michaels, uttered "yes" and kissed her on the cheek while their friends and family cheered.
Michaels got down on one knee and told her partner, "I know I'm an asshole a lot of the time, but if you will continue to put up with me, I would like you to marry me. And even though I got you that ring, I got a ring."
She held up her hand and flashed her diamond band.
"You did? Finally!" Rhoades said and kissed Michaels on the cheek, and the couple embraced while Heidi wiped tears from her eyes.
"Heidi is the perfect person for me," Michaels said in her on-camera interview. "The only place where there's like a solace and a safe haven is really with my family and Heidi is the nucleus of that family. She is the glue that really holds everything together and I think without that, I would be lost."
