There are roughly two and a half months until February's biggest holiday, which might be just enough time to cushion the blow of the news to your significant other that you'll need to postpone your Valentines Day plans to watch the second season of the Netflix hit "House of Cards."
The popular paid streaming service announced on Wednesday that the second season of its popular political thriller would be premiering on Feb. 14, 2014. As expected, Netflix will be making all episodes of the season available at once, according to Variety. This means you can have access to the whole season starting that day and binge watch them all at once or space them out over time.
The company announced the news with a brief teaser trailer, seen below. It is only 30 seconds long and is entirely made up of Robin Wright's character smoking a cigarette before flashing the release date for the second season across the screen. Therefore, the video is safe to watch and completely spoiler free.
The series originally debuted on Feb. 1, 2013. It was among the first wildly successful original series produced by Netflix, followed soon after by "Arrested Development: Season 4" and "Orange is the New Black." It received nominations for several Emmy awards including Outstanding Drama series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a drama Series for Kevin Spacey, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Robin Wright and Outstanding Directing for a Drama series for David Fincher.
The series also stars Kate Mara, Michael Gill, Gerald McRaney, Mahershala Ali, Sebastian Arcelus, Kristen Connolly, Nathan Darrow, Sakina Jaffrey, Michael Kelly and Molly Parker.
Fincher will return to the series as executive producer for the second season along with Kevin Spacey and the rest of the cast.
