Two Arizona skydivers died on Tuesday, after a fatal collision occurred in midair.
Both skydivers were jumping over Arizona's southern region with open canopies when they rammed into one another around 200 or 300 feet above the ground, according to Sgt. Brian Jerome, an Eloy police spokesperson who talked to the Associated Press on Wednesday.
Both of the divers' parachutes sunk inward and tugged them down to the ground at about 4:50 p.m.
One of the divers died at the scene of the incident, while the other was rushed to Casa Grande Regional Medical Center, and was pronounced dead there. The identities of the two deceased have not yet been released.
A third skydiver also sustained some injuries, but the wounds "[were] not related to or caused by" the accident, Jerome told AP. The skydiver was said to be in stable condition, and the injuries were not grave.
The accident took place at training facility Skydive Arizona, located in the Eloy Municipal Airport, 60 miles south of Phoenix, AP reported. The drop zone is supposedly the largest in the world, according to the company's website.
Investigators are currently looking for any clues that might indicate the cause of the crash. Officials said they would release the names of the deceased after their respective family members were notified.
