Trouble always seems to find Anthony DiNozzo Sr. whenever he pops back into son Tony's world on "NCIS." In an upcoming episode, it's a troubled young woman who could change his and Tony's lives forever.
Robert Wagner will reprise his role as Special Agent DiNozzo's father one last time before his TV son Michael Weatherly exits "NCIS" at the end of this season. This time Senior will assist a homeless woman who believes he is her father.
Is she confused or has Tony had a sister living in D.C. that he never knew about? The old man has been known to get around.
Wagner returns to "NCIS" on Tuesday, March 22. The show is attempting to pull back as many fan favorites as possible to say farewell to Tony DiNozzo. So far, his ex-girlfriend Jeanne Benoit (Scottie Thompson) has returned twice this season with a possibility for a third appearance.
Much to fans dismay, chances of a Tony and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) reunion grow slimmer and slimmer everyday. That isn't to say the former Mossad officer won't play some role in Weatherly's final episode.
"You can't have Tony leave the show and not get into that in some respect," showrunner Gary Glasberg said, "so plan on it being discussed and handled, even if it's in background."
Weatherly will leave "NCIS" after 13 seasons and is one of the four original cast members still starring on the show as well as Mark Harmon, Pauley Perrette and David McCallum. The entire cast recently celebrated its 300th episode, which will air this Tuesday.
The milestone episode will spotlight wounded warriors and veterans' mental health problems, specifically PTSS (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome). Taye Diggs will guest star as Marine Gunnery Sergeant Aaron Davis, who was the sole survivor of an ambush on a group of Special Ops snipers in Iraq.
The NCIS team will re-examine the ambush after an American couple is attacked in the same area six months later. Gibbs (Harmon) will try to connect with Davis, who is being treated for PTSS at Walter Reed Medical Center, to get his account of the ambush.
The special episode will also feature a performance by the MusiCorps Band, part of a music rehabilitation program for wounded veterans.
"NCIS" airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
