Robert Downey Jr. Pens Emotional Facebook Post After Judge Dismisses Son's Drug Conviction [POST]

Robert Downey Jr. is proud of his son Indio after a judge and the "Captain America: Civil War" actor expressed the same via an emotional Facebook post on Friday.

The 50-year-old actor touched on Indio's sobriety and his devotion to music in the touching post after a Los Angeles judge dismissed Indio's conviction of cocaine possession and removed his guilty plea from his criminal record earlier this week.

"Congrats are in order for my firstborn, and I'm proud to oblige," Downey Jr. wrote in the post, which included a music video of "Cold Hands," a song by Indio's band The Dope. "Having braved the crucible of addiction (and pleased the court), his ongoing commitment to recovery continues to inspire and amaze."

Indio, 22, successfully completed a court-ordered 18-month treatment program and spent 90 days in a rehab facility after he was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in June 2014.

"I would like to say I am truly grateful for the experience I had over the last 20 months in recovery," Indio told the judge on Tuesday. "I'm so blessed to have my life back. I hope to be an inspiration to work with others in the future."

"Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it," Downey Jr. said at the time of his son's arrest, referring to his own 1996 drug conviction. "Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being."

"As long as we can remember, Indio has been a musician at heart. In the last several years, with his band mate Ralph Alexander, I've witnessed their dedication, consistency, and determination to grow as artists," Downey Jr. continued in his heartfelt post.

"I've also made it my business to be of as little help as possible, as nepotism usually does more harm than good... Just for today, I'm gonna ease up on that. Trust me and give these fine young men a listen," he added.
